This pedal has an oversized heat treated chromoly axle for lightweight and, most importantly, strength. A tough one-piece alloy outer cage is incredibly durable. The V12 uses two types of bearing. A sealed cartridge bearing below the alloy end cap which doesn't even need servicing. The plain bearing at the crank end can be serviced easily using a grease port and syringe. An external splash guard, internal O ring and internal double lip seal keep out crud and muck which could affect performance at the crank end. The pins can be replaced easily using an allen key. This pedal also comes in a magnesium model which weighs in at just 434g
