If you choose the splined option, it offers greater rigidity in the bottom bracket/spline interface. This converts more of your effort when pedalling into performance. The spline on these cranks is the International Spline Interface Standard, to make it compatible with a wider range of bottom brackets. It comes with chainrings in a 44/32/22 setup.
