This rim uses Mavic's UST tubeless system. Tubeless wheels are lighter, weighing far less than the traditional wheel, rim, tape, tube and tyre. It also means that tyre pressure is easier to adjust, which means that you are more able to tune it to the terrain which you're riding on. There is also the benefits of fewer flats, especially those due to shock, deteriorated rim tape or punctures. The rim is made from Maxtal, an alloy specific to Mavic, which is 30% stronger than 6106. SUP welding uses arc welding instead of ordinary sleeve joints to create added strength. It also means that there are no visible joints which could create shuddering when braking. Ceramic is used on the rim surface, which improves braking performance, while also reducing heat on the rim. It is more durable and also offers increased shock resistance.
