Successor of the Canon 550EX, the  Speedlite 580EX flash integrates new functions designed to optimize the results of the new EOS digital camera. It is mainly a guide number of 58 and a setting of the field covering angle compatible with ultra wide-angle focal up to 14 mm. The electronic circuit improvement of the Speedlite 580EX enables the acceleration of recycling time by about 25%.  The Speedlite 580EX is a key component in the complete Canon EOS flash system designed for silver digital cameras and is completely compatible with the new E-TTL II system.  It can equally act as a flash master in a wireless multi-flashes configuration or flash controlled by other Speedlite or by a ST-E2 transmitter.
