The circuitry for pre-amplification, AM/FM tuner, surround processing, component connection and signal routing is housed within the A/V Tuner/Processor Unit. The Tuner/Processor Unit receives A/V source signals via dual coaxial / optical digital inputs. The signals are then converted into analog using high-precision, accurate 24-bit D/A converters. 5 video, (composite and S-type) and 7 Audio inputs ensure ample room for system setup and future expansion. An optical digital output for connection to, for example, a MD recorder is located on both the Main Unit and the A/V Tuner/Processor Unit.
