Our buying team tasted some cracking Gevrey-Chambertins this year - a region renowned for its full rich fleshy and exotic Pinot Noirs (Clive Coates MW) - but this was a step up from most village wines. The Amiot brothers Jean Louis and Didier achieved the depth of flavour Gevrey is loved for in their 2007 but what made it really sing was its wonderfully fresh and elegant structure - it is a delight to drink already. Plenty of juicy black cherry and plummy fruit with a finish of smoothest silk.
