CÃtes de Francs is Bordeauxs smallest appellation, just 450 hectares of vineyards in all, located in the picturesque hills to the east of St-Emilion. Clos Fontaine is perhaps the areas best known winery, owned by the illustrious Thienpont family. A medium-bodied and rounded wine. Aged in single-use oak barrels for up to 14 months and matured for a further 2 years before bottling, it is harmonious, smooth and has a gently spicy muscularity. Decant before serving.
