This year the blend is a mixture of 60 Cabernet Sauvignon, 23 Merlot, 15 Cabernet Franc and 2 Petit Verdot. We tasted it at Mouton in a flight with its relatives and, like most, it displayed an austere Cabernet character to the fore. This slightly antiseptic quality gives rise to a powerful mid-palate, showing the (desirable) mix of ripe dark fruit, crisp acidity and mouthfilling tannins.
