Haut Brignon is a family-owned chÃteau in the village of Plassac, which lies on the banks of the Gironde immediately south of Blaye. Being so close to the river, the soils here are partly silt-based, with the remainder made up of the regions typical chalk and clay. A good solid middleweight claret, with plenty of ripe blackberry and plum fruit character. Cool fermentation and maturation in stainless steel have preserved a fresh, supple feel. A sound match for roasted pork belly.
