The Walter Hansel vineyards are in the perfect location in Sonoma County for growing Chardonnay; the nights and early mornings are cooled by coastal fog with the mid-days warming up to perfect grape ripening conditions - sometimes 40 degrees. The Chardonnay is whole-cluster pressed into French oak for fermentation. The primary fermentation lasts 2-3 weeks and the maloactic fermentation can last until early spring of the next year. This gives the wine a blend of ripe citrus fruits and pineapple
