Marlborough is often too cool for Chenin Blanc, but in 2009 the vineyard benefited from the above average temperatures and dry conditions; allowing this very late ripening varietal to reach full ripeness and bringing its naturally high acid into balance. The low rainfall concentrated the flavours, and John hand-harvested perfectly healthy grapes. A rare treat!
