The sci-fi movies of the '50s and '60s inspired the gargantuan terrors in War of the Monsters, but you won't encounter Godzilla or Mothra because all these monsters are new. The developers of the popular Twisted Metal: Black have created 12 interactive environments for the titanic battles between these colossal beasts. Gameplay involves fighting opponents in the middle of crowded cities while simultaneously avoiding military defense systems and vehicles.

Parts of the surrounding city, like girders, chunks of debris, and tanker trucks can be used as weapons.Environmental effects -- tidal waves and earthquakes -- are a part of battle as well. Multiplayer options include four-monster battle royals and two versus two action, with or without computer-controlled monsters. Each monster has a special "rage" attack to complement an assortment of uppercuts, judo kicks, slaps, and body slams.
